Covid19 Impact on B&Bs and Training Courses
This blog post aims to discuss the Covid19 impact on B&Bs and training courses. Our own B&B, The Red Townhouse has had to adapt to working and living with Covid19. These changes to the way we are working will apply to any training we provide, as well as your stay with us whilst training.
We have had to create a ‘new normal’. All the information below is to help you understand what you can expect during a stay at our B&B and the Covid19 Impact on B&Bs and Training Courses. These are of course subject to change as any new Government guidance is issued. We hope these measures are temporary and to return to the old normal as soon as we can.
With regard to our usual face to face training, we should be ready to wear a face covering all the time, together with regular hand washing or sanitizing. We will maintain social distancing where it is practical to do so. If there are any additional training related changes we are required to make, we will discuss these with you at the time you book.
These are strange and unprecedented times for everyone. We are a very small business, so if you have a booking with us, but need to cancel, please can we ask you to consider postponing rather than cancelling outright. We are more than happy to rearrange your dates subject to availability.
Please contact us if you have any concerns or queries about anything in this blog post.
Thank you for your understanding, Richard & Elaine
Whilst we are still in a lockdown, please only book for dates when you feel confident you will be able to travel and stay overnight. If you book for dates earlier in the year (before 17th May 2021) and you are not in a category of person allowed to travel and stay away, we will have to ask you to cancel your booking. To avoid any confusion or disappointment, we recommend contacting us to confirm you are travelling for an allowed purpose.
See https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home#travel, and the section on staying away overnight for guidance.
We’re Good To Go !
We have completed our Covid19 risk assessment in line with government, industry body and local authority guidelines and are pleased to confirm that we comply fully in all respects. This will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary in accordance with any new or changed guidance.
We have achieved our Visit England ‘We’re Good To Go’ certification also confirming that our business has followed government and industry Covid19 guidelines. We hope this will give you confidence that we really are ready and safe to reopen and welcome you back. This is all being done to ensure our mutual safety and well being.
When you arrive, please ring the doorbell and step back from the door. You can phone us when you arrive if you prefer. We will then open the door to welcome you in. Please wear a face covering on arrival, although after check in we are quite relaxed about this, so the choice is yours, although we would recommend wearing a covering in public areas of our home. If you arrive at the same time as other guests we may ask you to wait in order to maintain social distancing. We will ask you to carry your own luggage to your room, although we will still be able to help if this is physically not possible for you.
Pick up and drop off service from Penrith rail station is temporarily unavailable.
Please remember to keep to and respect social distancing guidelines during your stay. This is for our mutual health and wellbeing. We will ask you to use hand sanitizer as soon as you enter our B&B.
Your room and the common areas of the B&B will have been cleaned prior to arrival and in accordance with stated guidelines. The common areas such as stair bannisters and door handles will be cleaned more than once per day.
You will notice some changes in your room. These include use of tea and coffee sachets, small individual toiletries, no cushions or throws on the bed and no tourist information. A disposable guest information sheet and town map will also be in your room. Your keys, registration and breakfast order forms will all be in your room ready for you.
If you are staying more than one night, we will not enter or service your room during your stay. Extra items are available on request. Please leave any rubbish outside the door. The tap water in your rooms is safe to drink – we have some of the best drinking water in the country in Cumbrian taps!
Most of Penrith’s pubs and restaurants have reopended, although perhaps not operating at normal capacity. We strongly recommend booking your table, especially at weekends. As we only provide breakfast, it may be worth checking eating out options with us first. We can recommend some places to eat if you need some ideas.
Breakfast MUST be pre-ordered the day before. From now on that includes ALL breakfast items, including those that would usually be on a buffet, as we can no longer offer a help yourself buffet.
We now have a separate table for each guest room in our breakfast room, an appropriate distance apart.
You can choose to eat in our breakfast room (you must do this if you want a cooked breakfast), or alternatively, we can provide a light continental breakfast on a tray left outside your room.
In both cases, you MUST provide us with a breakfast time.
If you are staying more than one night, we will provide a fresh menu to enable you to choose for the following day, unless you want exactly the same choices and at the same time.
Departure and Payment
Please settle your bill by card payment, preferably contactless using your smartphone. If you prefer not to use our card machine, we can supply our bank details for you to make a bank transfer – if this is the case, please do this on arrival, rather than when you are rushing to leave.
Please DO NOT strip your bed – we will strip and clean your room after you have left, using appropriate PPE.
We can no longer have a traditional guest book for signing in our reception hall. Please leave any reviews online.
Many thanks for your understanding and for reading this far about Covid19 Impact on B&Bs and Training Courses !
Looking forward to meeting you all soon.
